Given the increasing interest in pistachio nuts in the United States as a nutritious and healthy snack and aided by growing middle class and overseas markets feeding the demand for exports, California pistachio growers have enjoyed consistently strong demand for their nut production.  In fact, the global demand for these nuts has propelled the United States to the position of number one exporter of pistachios in the world. Maxxam Enterprises, through or in partnership with affiliated entities, has acquired and developed in excess of 10,000 acres of open agricultural-zoned land for the purpose of planting and cultivating pistachio trees. Maxxam’s portfolio of ag land is situated across half a dozen different orchards throughout the Central Valley, one of the world’s most productive agricultural regions. The area is known for providing more than half of the fruits, vegetables, and nuts grown in the United States.
